So I have been hearing a lot of hype about the Illinois based burger chain Steak 'n Shake and it’s arrival in NYC. Many reviewers have put it on the same level as In and Out Burger. Such a claim in my mind needed to be further researched. I decided to read a burger blog that I subscribe to in order to find out his take on the place. By the way if anyone is ever looking to find information about everything burger, be sure to check out Burger Conquest.
Steak 'n Shake opened its doors yesterday so I made my way over around 10 pm hoping to avoid the dinner crowd. I walked in to a full house. The line however moved very quickly and everything was perfectly streamlined. The staff was insanely friendly, to a point where I felt I was no longer in New York. I received my order quickly where I then decided to grab any spot I can find and see what this burger was all about. The burger fulfilled everything I would hope it would be, fresh, tasty and full of flavor. The fries were absolutely wonderful as well. They were freshly cut fries that were full of potato flavor and cooked to the perfect crisp. What I found even more surprising than the actual quality of the food was the price. Their original double cheeseburger with fries is only $3.99. I was able to get an entire meal with a milkshake for under $10.
After I finished the meal a manager walked over and asked how I enjoyed my burger and if it was my first time at a Steak 'n Shake. If kindness could kill, this place would have a pile of burger stuffed bodies on the floor. I was so happy with the food and price I had to share it with someone, so I bought another meal and brought it home for my roommate to try. I cannot say it is better than In and Out Burger but I will say that it is superior to Shake Shack, which I have always felt was a tad overrated. If I had to rate it amongst its competitors I would give the place an 8 out of 10
